Shamanism is a spiritual practice dating back to prehistoric times. It has been practiced by indigenous people throughout the world. The practice of Shamanism believes that every physical, mental, or emotional illness has a spiritual illness or imbalance that causes it. Shamanic practitioners enter non-ordinary reality to work in conjunction with spirit guides and spirit helpers to remove harmful energy and to restore a clients personal power and strength. This enables physical, mental, and emotional healing to start by removing the spiritual illness at its core.

The practice of shamanism may use vibration sounds like drumming, rattling, and song to place the shaman in an altered state of consciousness so that she can communicate with the spirit world and seek aid from the helping spirits. This is done for purposes of healing, divination, and self exploration.

The spirits that are worked with in shamanism are those of our spirit guides, angels, power animals, ancestors, and the spirits of nature and the land. When a shamanic practitioner calls upon their spirits it is done as a partnership. The relationship between shamanic practitioner and spirit is the same as any relationship in life- it is founded on establishing a bond of friendship, trust, and respect. A shamanic practitioner is quite simply a liaison between those that reside in ordinary reality and those that reside in the spirit worlds.

Extractions

Crystallized Energies: Chronic Negative Thoughts or Feelings

Some toxic energies can crystallize becoming like material objects in the body. These are impossible to metabolize through Illumination process or other forms of energy cleaning (Pranic Healing and Reiki and Chelation).  These crystallized energies embed themselves in the physical body taking on shapes like knives or spears or even gelatinous forms . These energies can be caused by our negative feelings that we hold onto like anger, envy, jealousy or betrayal. Negative energies are initially attracted to us because they have an affinity to us.  Every form of energy has a frequency and a vibration.  Anger can penetrate our LEF only when the vibration for anger lives within us.  So an angry thought from a former spouse can penetrate our energy field like a dagger. Normally our body knows how to eliminate these energies. However, when we are under continual barrage of negative thoughts, or chronic stress, our defense system in our energy field gets weakened. Negative energy directed towards us can crystallize over time and embed itself in our physical body. These energies do not belong to us and because the energy has become material-like, they must be removed manually.

The Extractions Process will be integrated into an Illumination Process to clear the toxic imprint or affinity to the negative emotion in the LEF.  The Shaman coach will Scan the LEF, Tease out heavy energy, apply release points on your head, extract the crystallized energy and then go back to Illumination Process on the chakras. The Illumination Process is like cleaning the dirt from a wound before removing the shards of glass embedded in the skin. Some of these crystallized energies can also be embedded from past lives.

Intrusive Energies and Entities

Intrusive entities are discarnate spirits trapped between this 3rd-dimensional world and the other 4th and 5th dimensional worlds. A crystallized energy embeds itself within the body. An intrusive energy embeds itself within the Central Nervous system. They are fluid and can move around the body so a different extraction process is used.

Many physical and psychological problems are caused or exacerbated by intrusive energies. They often produce anxiety, depression, addictions, mood swings to name a few.  These entities attach themselves to a chakra and through it connect to our Central Nervous System. When persons who are spiritually open become emotionally unbalanced, they are easy targets for parasitic intrusive entities. They appear as one of two types: one of our former liftetime selves or a disincarnate being who has penetrated our LEF . They can be deceased relative or a friend here and now.The Extraction Process:

The Extraction Process:

The extraction takes place with the client standing – followed with an illumination. Double terminated pure quartz crystal is used for this extraction

While client is standing, the Shaman will test for the intrusive energy or entity

  • The client will hold the Shaman’s tracking stone.
  • Shaman places her hands on client at base of neck and base of spine-tailbone.
  • Client leans client back slightly
into Shaman’s hands
  • Shaman runs energy from the base to the top of the spine to dislodge any entities attached to spinal cord
  • Shaman then tracks for entities with hands as she run the energy
  • Retest muscle test for weakness. If weak, continue to extraction process.
  • Shaman holds extraction crystal in right hand and client’s left hand and calls the energy/entity into the crystal

Shaman will gently rock hands back and forth while calling the fluid energy into the crystal

  • Shaman and client will talk to energy – what does it need to leave the person, guide it to crystal
  • Shaman coaxes entity into crystal
and will track to sense if energy is gone

The Illumination Process

The Illumination is the core process for clearing imprints from the Lifeforce Energy Field LEF, and the foundation for all shamanic healing practices. The Illumination Process transforms heavy energies into light. This is a metaphor for saying that it transforms emotional wounds into sources of power and knowledge. Once the lessons are learned, the client no longer needs to relive the painful experience. The wounds cease scripting your reality and turn out to be gifts of love and strength.

The Illumination Process achieves healing in three ways. First, it burns up the sludge and deposits adhering to the walls of a chakra. This promotes longevity and strengthens the immune response. Second, it combusts the toxic energy around malignant physical and emotional imprints. This is the fuel that an imprint employs to express itself. Third, it scours clean the imprints in the LEF. The Illumination Process brings about healing at the source, at the blueprint level of our being. When these imprints are erased, one can readily change negative emotions and behaviours. The power of the immune system is unleashed so that physical healing is accelerated.

What to expect in Illumination Process:

  1. Shaman will Prepare herself and the space. She will call in the Directions before arrival of client and light a candle.
  2. Shaman will describe the Illumination Process. Shaman will be by client side at all times.
  3. Client will talk about their presenting problem.
  4. When the issue is clear, the client picks one of Shaman’s Medicine stones and blows the feelings into it (three times.)
  5. The Shaman will track the chakras and determine the lowest one to work with using a pendulum. She will work only one chakra per session.
  6. Shaman will open Sacred space (Wiracocha) and expand it over the client.
  7. Shaman will cradle clients head while pressing on deepening points on the back of clients head. Guide the client’s breathing with your own. Ask client to feel the intensity of the experience but not to relive or ‘get caught’ in the trauma.
  8. Client is instructed to breathe into stone that rests over the chakra. Tell them to get into feeling of presenting issue
  9. Shaman Backwashes the identified chakra by spinning it counter-clockwise with your hand close to the body. Place the stone here.
  10. Shaman Clears the chakra by applying pressure on the release points. Shaman may use their hand, a feather, or rattle, to tease out energy strands and release dense energies from that chakra. Send this energy to the fire
  11. If appropriate, shaman may ask client for feedback: What are they sensing, seeing or experiencing? Your questions should facilitate their experience, not disrupt it. Guide their breathing with your own.
  12. Alternate deepening points (when you sense the client needs to go deeper) with release points.
  13. When you sense the stillness that comes with completion, remove the stone from the chakra.
  14. Shaman will Illuminate the affected chakra by transferring light energy from the 8th chakra
  15. The shaman will finish by Re-balancing the chakra by spinning it clockwise. Allow the client whatever processing time they need. Close your sacred space Wiracocha.
  16. Shaman will Close Directions.

Recapitulation

Recapitulation is a term used by Carlos Castaneda to refer to a process of clearing yourself of past memories. One of his students said recapitulation is “the act of calling back the energy we have already spent in past actions.”

Using this Shamanic technique, we return to the moments of our lives where we spent energy, relive the event as if we were actually there in as much detail as possible, and our spent energy is returned to us. The recapitulation process eliminates and dissolves emotional connections. It not only retrieves the energy you have given away in your lifetime, it also clears you of the energetic deposits of others.

The function of the breath in this practice is to restore energy. The shamans in this tradition teach that the human energy field contains cobweb-like filaments which are projected out of the luminous mass (what we call the auric field or the human energy field); they are propelled by emotions. Therefore, every situation or interaction where feelings are involved is potentially draining to the luminous body or human energy field. By breathing in from right to left while remembering a feeling, the breath picks up the filaments that were left behind. The next immediate breath is from left to right, with an exhalation; with it you eject any filaments left in you by the other person you are remembering.

The technique involves focus on, a specific person followed by sweeping breath in which you turn your head from the center to the left and breathe out as you turn your head past center and over to the right. You take another breath in as your head turns left and another breath out as your head turns right. After the first breath or two, you will want to breathe through your nose. Keep picturing the person you chose; you may notice that they come into sharper focus or you may recall certain events with them that you have forgotten. Keep your internal focus on that one person you chose to recapitulate until it appears there is “nothing left” to process emotionally with that person.

Shamanic Rituals and Ceremonies

Ritual has been a particularly powerful component of Shamanism. Most Shamanic rituals aim to honour and invoke the spirit of the natural world. The following are some examples that I integrate into healing and coaching and teaching sessions:

  • Full Moon Release -a full moon signifies completion and is an ideal time for letting go of things that you no longer need ( ie”the Quecha word is hucha”)
  • New Moon Creation – the new moon is said to represent a time of rebirth and growth, and an ideal time to create something new
  • Chanting –singing and chanting used in healing sessions. Shamans often use these tools to move the spirit and universal energies in a positive direction or to bring in specific healing energies for a client.
  • Smudging – Burning sage is often done in a ritual known a smudging. This act is said to drive away negative spirits and energies

  • Fire and Water Ceremonies: used to clear “hucha” or your emotional baggage from your energy fieldRites of Passage: some rites of passage can be passed onto clients like Protective Bands of Power or Crown of Light
  • Invocations and Creating Sacred Space: Calling in the 4 to 7 directions and invoking spirit guides and angels to each healing session through chanting, smudging, sound, and sacred offerings and activating personal Mesa (altar).
  • Hampicamayoq Breathwork : Peruvian shamanic technique to bring all 3 energies into alignment and balance. These are Physical (Kawsay), Sami (Emotional- Sami Sonqo and Mental -Sami Uma) and Spiritual (K’anchay).
  • Hucha Mikhuy Ritual: Hucha Mikhuy is a clearing and transmuting ritual for yourself or another to clear “hucha” into mother earth or Pachamama. Can be done for yourself, another person or a nation.

Soul Retrieval

One of the shaman’s most important tools is soul retrieval.  Shamans believe that part of the human soul is free to leave the body. The soul is the center of the shamanic healing arts. Shamans change their state of consciousness allowing their free soul to travel and retrieve ancient wisdom and lost power.

Because the soul is free to leave the body it will do so when dreaming. Or it will leave the body to protect itself from damaging situations either emotional or physical.  If the soul doesn’t come back on its own, a shaman must intervene and return the soul essence.

It’s possible for the soul to become dis-integrated through any of a number of common traumas, circumstances or situations that might take place during a person’s normal course of living. When these occur, they may manifest in physical or emotional conditions that cannot be healed by traditional medicine or psychological counseling.  Conventional therapies only treat the symptoms.  Until the root cause is addressed, the underlying problem remains – leading to recurring, sometimes increasingly more severe effects. Soul retrieval focuses on locating, recovering and re-integrating lost parts of the soul.

What Causes Soul Loss?

The reasons for soul loss vary widely. The conditions under which a part of the soul will leave the body will differ from one person to another.  Here are typical circumstances that are frequently the root cause of soul loss.

  • Physical, sexual, or emotional abuse as a child. A person was in an abusive situation and the soul left to protect itself from the abuse.
  • Death of a child, parent, or close friend. Someone close died and the soul left until the person is ready to deal with his or her grief.
  • Loss of a husband, wife, or lover – through death, or involuntary divorce or separation
  • Sudden and unexpected loss of a meaningful job or career
  • A sudden accident resulting in severe physical trauma, or sudden onset of a debilitating disease. The soul might jump out of the body just prior to an accident to avoid the force of the accident
  • Exposure to shocking or extremely stressful physical or psychological conditions or events – for example, witnessing a murder, serving in a war, undergoing chemical or radiation therapy
  • Codependent relationships – where one has unconsciously given a part of one’s soul to another – say, in a parent/child or intimate relationship

There are various reasons for soul loss, all of which are healthy ways of protecting yourself. Most of these are healthy mechanisms of protection. In some cases, the soul part will return on its own. But if it does not realize how to return, or doesn’t know its safe to – the shaman may need to assist the return that missing piece.

One way to lose ones soul is to give it to someone.

It is important to know that no one can take your soul without your consent. If someone has stolen your soul, you have in some sense given it or allowed him or her to have it.  It might have been normal in your family to borrow energy from each other.  Or you might not have realized it was OK to say no.  If for some reason you feel that someone is tugging at your soul, make a firm decision within yourself that they cannot have it and they will not be able to take it from you.

Symptoms of Soul Loss

There are many, many symptoms that are indicative of soul loss.  In tribal cultures, it’s not common for someone to experience a soul loss for very long without someone in the tribe noticing.  Members of the tribe are sensitive to other tribesmen’s energy and a conversation with the shaman will often lead to an interview with the affected person; followed by a journey to retrieve the soul.

However, contemporary culture does not support an awareness of the signs of soul loss – either by the affected individual, or those with whom he/she comes in regular contact.  So, one may frequently suffer the consequences of soul loss for years, and try a number of therapies (unsuccessfully) before seeking help from a shaman.  Soul loss is often accompanied by a feeling that something is missing from life.

Here are a few of the symptoms that are common to loss of a piece of the soul:

  • Loss of vitality or passion about life
  • Depression, listlessness, or a feeling that something is missing in life
  • Difficulty with focusing attention on the task at hand
  • An overly active mind – inability to control a continuous, random stream of thoughts – which often leads to insomnia or nightmares
  • Addictions to drugs, alcohol, or tobacco as a means of escape
  • Loss of memory about a period of your life
  • Unhealthy or unnecessary compulsions – such as excessive use of media like the Internet, television, and pornography
  • Recurring thoughts about dying, or suicidal fantasies
  • A sense of multiple personalities showing up under different conditions
  • Disconnection or disassociation leading to feelings like the world is passing by without  you, or unusually selfish behavior, or a sense of wondering or not knowing why you’re alive
  • Chronic feelings of shame, low self-esteem, or lack of self-confidence.

The Soul Retrieval Process

Traditional shamanic soul retrieval involves journeying to alternate worlds to locate and recover the soul.  In the practices taught in the US and in many parts of the world, the shaman brings the soul pieces back with her from her journey. The healer would then blow each piece back into the body of the client, one at time, focusing so that the soul essence fills that person’s body.  In this process, the subject is a passive participant.  In most cases, you will need a healer to perform the soul retrieval for you.  It’s not easy to do this for yourself.   The shaman alone has the power and the ability to recover the soul. Also, an essential component of shamanic healing is the love that is felt when someone performs a healing for you. The act of receiving, a feeling that the universe is wanting the best for you.
